Yup, it's official Javile Mcgee will play for the Philippine men's basketball team after being naturalized. Okay just kidding
Lol.. but what if he does, what will happen?

What will make him sign a contract to play for the Philippines? He said "I want Christine Reyes and private a island"
but of course he would want more than that, he wants Marian Rivera too...Lol but he's no Lebron James so he'll settle for Christine and the private island. Lol.. but again I'm just kidding Lol... If it's Lebron "ohh..Lebron James ina-alay po nami sa iyo si Chritine Reyes at si Marian Rivera, kung trip mo si Angel na din maglaro ka lang para sa amin" hehehe..anyway let's get back on topic

The Philippine men's basketball has always been a strong contender in Asia, with quick and skilled guards, they can punish the opponent with 3 point shots, crossover moves and daredevil drives to the hoop. Yes, the Philippines indeed has the most talent in the guard position. But when it comes to Forwards to Center, well that's why the Philippines is "just a strong contender" and never champ. While the guards have great talent, they still lack in height, PG's standing 5'8 to 6'0 and SG's are ussually 6'3 and SF to C stand at only 6'6 to 6'9, the Philippines always had height problems, especially at the big man position., for almost 20 years the Philippine team looked for a 7ft guy to fill the Center position and to help Asi Taulava on the inside,....and the Philippines wait....for that man.

Then the new breed arrived, Japeth a high flying 6'10 Filipino PF and  7ft Marcus Douthit, the Philippines did improve improve making it the semi finals in 2011 FIBA Championships only to be eliminated by S.Korea by a small margin because of out players can't their free throws in. But it was proven. the Philippine team just needs good big men to compliment the spectacular guards.

If Javile Mcgee will play for the Philippines it will solve the following problems.

1. Presence inside- Now that Asi (the lone bigman for 3 decades) is retired there will be two quality Centers manning the paint. The Phillipines will no longer be bullied inside and give up easy tip in shots because Marcus and Javile can out muscle the most Centers in Asia. For sure Hamid Haddadi won't be able to do the things he has been doing to the Philippine for the last 5 years, this will solve the Iranian height problem.

2. Better rebounding- that means more second chance points, more fast break opportunities for the guards

3. More defense- Javile is a defensive monster, him Marcus and Japeth will be swatting and deflecting shot after shot.

4. A post up player- It may not be obvious but Javile can score inside if he wants to.

5. Athleticism.

Javile is not a miracle worker though, I'm sure even with his freakish athleticism, strength, skill and overall awesomeness he won't be  able to carry the Philippine team to be Champion in FIBA Asia..oh no, the locals still need to play their hearts out like they always do.

Overall Javile will be a good addition to the Philippine team, plus Filipino's love him...remember the time when he was here? The people are going crazy when he made those amazing dunks, one time the crowd even cheered for him to get the ball that was on top of the basketball board. Lol...

Oh... I sure do hope he plays for the Philippines, if he does. That's one more step for the Philippines to be number 1 in Asia again.
