This was my college thesis by the way so we (including my group mates) really had to dig deep about the facts.
History
Filipina marrying an American soldier 1890
Filipina's (we call Filipino women Filipina), had engaged in interracial marriages as far as Philippine history can go back, before the Spaniards came, marriages between Chinese and Japanese traders to local women were common. The early Filipinos didn't see anything wrong with it, historic accounts from the Spaniards show that when they arrived in the Philippines there was a Japanese colony in the Philippines, at least at first they thought it was a Japanese colony, but it wasn't. They were Japanese people (mostly men) who decided to settle down in the Philippines along with their Filipina wives. During the Spanish times, poor Spanish soldiers lived in Manila along with their Filipina wives, they lived in a impoverished community they lived together along with their mixed kids with no problem. It was actually a sort of a badge to be mixed (be a child of a foreigner specially white, not so much with Chinese though).During American time it was the same, as long the foreign man didn't leave his family, it was all good the children weren't viewed as bastards, they interacted normally with society.
Enough of History lesson.
Ever heard of made to order Filipina brides? Not a good idea, if the Philippine government finds out they'll put you in the slammer, it's against Philippine law. I'm getting out of topic here, so yeah the Filipinos accept the idea of inter racial marriages. Now let's get back to reality. A lot of Filipina women prey on foreign men to have a better life. BUT NOT IN ALL CASES OF COURSE, there are those who genuinely fall in love. But the fact is Filipina women usually seduce the old foreigners , leading them to believe that they found genuine love just but the sad truth is the women is just after their money, these women act like they hit the jackpot ones the guy says "I love you" (trust me I know I've seen it happen several times), they don't feel love as I observed, these women imagine being out of the country and having dollars in their hands, shopping, living the good life. That's the truth sadly. That's a lot, not all.
Marriage
I'll give it to you straight, Filipino women are good for marriage, I interviewed 7 white men, 5 are Americans and 1 is German and the other came from Sweden. And these are the common denominator they liked.
1. Able to flex male dominance- Philippines is a male dominated culture where the men has the final say, I'm not sure though, WHY it's more apparent in the interracial marriage but it is.
2. Much more loving
3. Good in chores- yiikes, but all of them did say it.
All 7 said they were happy with their marriage.
Other thing is unlike in the West, ones you marry a Filipina, your married to her entire family.
It's not usually a pretty site, but you'd see it in the malls around 10- 4pm, an old white guy holding hands with an ehem..not so attractive Filipina holding shopping bags with her family...also holding shopping bags. It just looks bad, it makes one think, is marriage really about love or something else.
How do you meet one?
That's easy, in the 90's when internet wasn't "all that", Filipina women would post advirtisements on newspapers saying "I'm single Filipina 28 years old, looking for love," or kinda like that. Then the guy writes the girl, it would ussually go on for months, pictures will be sent and if it's all good they'll meet and get married.
Nowadays, you can just type in google "marry a filipina woman" or "Filipina cupid " and they'll give you preferences you'll type it in and there system will find what suits you, you chat... see how it goes down.
